Objectives:
SPAN 480 Topic – Advanced conversation - is a course designed to keep students using Spanish through reading, writing and especially speaking in Spanish. The class focusses on personal experience in relation to the topic of the short story of the week. Grammar and vocabulary will be addressed as needed.

Attendance:
An important aspect of this course is class attendance. It is imperative that absences be kept to a minimum.
Participation:
Since this is a literature class where students have to reflect on the content and the meaning of the works we study, participation is an important component of the grade.
Course Requirements:
Oral Participation:
Students are encouraged to participate with opinions and comments on the assigned short story as well as with personal stories.
Readings
:
When reading the short stories, students are required to answer the questions and prepare insightful comments.
Written assignments:
There will be a written assignment for each class on a theme of the story, no longer than a page. Attention will be given to correct spelling, grammar and insight.
Movie:
For the final we will watch a movie.
